Learn a new moisturizer recipe suited for dry, oily, and sensitive skin. In doing so, you can save a lot of money instead of buying an unreliable skincare product from a drugstore. Using mild and organic ingredients, you can nourish your skin and keep it soft.

Dry and Sensitive Skin

The dry and sensitive skin type is rather common, and can be prone to redness, itchiness, and flaking. A lot of people fail to manage these flare-ups by using irritating and harsh skincare products that contribute to the dryness and redness of the skin.

Aside from hydration, it’s also important to keep a simple routine to prevent severe dryness. Products containing alcohol aren’t good, because this will make the skin even more dry and itchy.

What you need is a mild moisturizer to promote the production of collagen and reduce dryness

Other factors that irritate the face include using hot water to cleanse, using products with fragrance, parabens, and antimicrobial ingredients. In addition, using harsh facial scrubs and loofas make the face dryer than normal

To counter the effects of using harsh products, you can be gentle to the skin using a mild moisturizer. Using for a couple of times a day helps to calm down or soothe the skin, and ward off bacterial growth.

Ingredient Triggers for Dry Sensitive Skin

The problem with some people is, they try many products that aren’t designed for their faces. If you have dry, sensitive skin, make sure to avoid these triggering ingredients:

Scented creams

Any forms of fragrance cause irritation, especially creams and lotions. There’s really no need for any scent in skincare as it causes inflammation that damages the inner layers of the face. Therefore, if you have dry, sensitive skin, avoid anything with fragrant or scent.

Retinoids

Women and men at the age of 35 and above love retinoids as it helps with fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging. However, this chemical is irritating, which can make the skin even drier.

Salicylic Acid

Salicylic acid is a popular ingredient for acne treatments, helping control inflammation in the face. However, it isn’t designed for dry, sensitive skin because it can be harsh. It’s not gentle and definitely causes more dryness

Benzoyl Peroxide

Avoid Benzoyl Peroxide at any cost because it results in peeling, itching, and flaking.

Alcohol

Alcohol robs the skin of hydration, which causes dryness and irritation. It only works for oily skin types for a drying effect. However, if you already have flaky, sensitive skin, never use anything with alcohol on it.

DIY Moisturizer Recipe for Sensitive Skin

Why use over-the-counter moisturizers when you can create your own? A natural, gentle, and non-toxic product help to hydrate and nourish the skin, so it looks healthy.

Some of the ingredients to use include mango butter, grape seed oil, Yarrow flowers, plantain leaves, chamomile essential oil, and rose essential oil. You can use other mild and organic ingredients of your liking.

In making DIY skincare, you need to make an herbal infusion using the grapeseed oil. Pour this over the herbs then set for 3-4 weeks. Strain the mixture, and immerse in water. Keep in low temperature between 95 degrees and 110 degrees Fahrenheit.

For the butter base, melt the mango butter in a pot with hot water. Set aside in a cold place and use a hand mixer to blend until it’s whipped. Combine the mango butter mix with the essential oils thoroughly.

Store in a sterilized glass container and cool in a dark place. Use within six months or less, or until supply lasts. The essential oil acts as an antibacterial agent, so the product can last for about four to six months.

Conclusion

If you have sensitive skin, you can try making a moisturizer recipe that contains essential oils and nourishing ingredients. Incorporating healthy ingredients isn’t just for meals, it’s also important to use healthy ingredients in anything you put on your skin too.
