Our body and skin needs cleaning. When our skin fails to benefit from sun or oxygen, it needs to regenerate. For that reason, cleaning the skin from dead skin cells is needed during winter.  If is possible to get your shiny skin back with simple homemade recipe; Clay Mask.

In general sense, clay has the same minerals with our skin. Therefore, it is commonly used in cosmetics. As clay peels the dead layer, it deeply cleans the layer beneath.

Effect of Clay Mask on Skin Based on Colours:

Grey Clay (Bentonite) :

I think bentonite clay is the mother of all clays. Since we are talking about skin mask, this can be applied to all skin types. But benefits of bentonite clay deserves another article. I will try to share one soon.

Green Clay:

Green clay is beneficial for oily skin and skin with acne.

Pink Clay:

This clay treats sensitive and blemishing skin.

White Clay:

Intense moisturising effect creates miracles on dry skin.

Red Clay:

It is an important source of moist for over-sensitive and dry skins. It is effective against exfoliation.

Blue Clay:

It offers a solution to sunspots and spots caused by pigment diseases.

Yellow Clay:

This clay peels the upper layer of the skin and gives strength to lower layers.

Clay Mask Preparation:

First, select the correct clay for your skin type. Be careful that clay is in powder form when you buy it.  If you believe that the clay is hard and rough, you can use kitchen mixer to blend it. Additionally, dry powder clay should be stored in fridge.

Ingredients

  • 1 tea spoon of powder clay
  • 1 tea spoon of honey
  • 1 tea spoon of water
  • 2 drops of lavender essence oil or pure olive oil

You can make a mask that is suitable for all skin types. You can only mix clay and water. But, you should benefit from honey.

You should avoid applying clay around eyes and lips. You should noy exceed 20 minutes since clay will provide all benefits when it is dry. You can rinse it off with warm water and complete your care with Homemade Tonic and homemade repair creme.

Last note: Applying clay mask for more than twice a month can cause sensitivity on the skin. You can select the proper one depending on your skin type.
