How to Make Homemade Deodorant?

ADVERTISING

For several years, I have used deodorants of different brands. I tried the aluminium free types, organic types, and even vegetable based types. However, I was never sure of the safety of those commercial products. So, I tried to give a chance to homemade deodorant.

As in all other beauty and cosmetic products I tried, I was pretty sure to find an organic and natural homemade deodorant recipe. I made a little research and I was right. There were tons of recipes. But these were not good enough. I combined and played with each recipe and find my own.

This homemade deodorant only has natural ingredients. When you start using this, your body will get used to the homemade product and you will obtain successful effects. In this homemade deodorant recipe, I used different essential oils. But the best results were with lavender and tea tree oil. It is because these two essential oils have strong smell and works magically. You can also play with this recipe to make your homemade deodorant.

Also, I provided an additional ingredient for sensitive skins and those who want to try different essential oils. My skin isn’t extremely sensitive so I used the ingredient in the main list.

Homemade Deodorant Ingredients:

  • 2 table spoons of beeswax
  • 1 table spoon of shea butter
  • 5 table spoon of coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup of corn starch*
  • 1/4 cup of aluminium free baking soda
  • 10-15 drops of essential tea tree oil
  • 10-15 drops of essential lavender oil
  • 10-15 drops of other essential**
  • 2-3 new or used deodorant tubes
*If you have sensitive skin, you may use arrowroot powder instead of corn starch.
**Additional essential oils like germanium can be used to give smell to your homemade deodorant. These other essential oils are optional.

You can fill couple of empty deodorant containers with this mixture. You can easily keep this deodorant at room temperature. The beeswax will keep the mixture consistent. However, if you are living in extremely hot regions, it is always better to keep it in the fridge.

Also, since this homemade deodorant has no preservatives or other chemicals, it is better to wait for couple of weeks to see the exact results. Like all natural and homemade cosmetic products, the effects of the deodorant will be clear after regular use. Also, unlike anti-perspirant type commercial deodorants, you will continue to sweat with this one. But, this homemade deodorant is pretty good when it comes to absorbing sweat.
