Homemade Soap for Eczema Preparation
1
Before starting your homemade soap recipe, you first need to measure all the ingredients you will use in this recipe. This way, you don’t need to worry about measuring the ingredients when you complete the following steps. Just measure and place these ingredients in separate containers.
2
To prepare lye solution, you need to carefully add sodium hydroxide (NaOH) crystals to purified water. While preparing your lye solutions, it is best to do this procedure outside or in a well-ventilated room. There will be heat as well as steam. You should avoid inhaling this steam. If you want, you can use an appropriate mask for this step.
3
While your lye solution is resting, you need to melt the oils like coconut oil, castor oil, olive oil and shea butter. Use a double boiler to melt these oils. If you don’t have a double boiler, you can always improvise and melt them in your microwave.
4
If you are using a double boiler, you should constantly monitor the temperature of the oils. You just need to reach the temperature you need to melt the solid oils. You should reach 52°
5
After reaching this temperature, you can now mix this melted oil and lye solution. At this stage, any undissolved sodium hydroxide will dissolve due to heat of melted oil mixture.
6
Add neem oil and avocado oil inside the mixture.
7
Mix all the ingredients to achieve a consistent mixture.
8
Take your mould and pour this mixture inside them.
9
Set the moulds aside for at least 24 hours. It might be better to keep the moulds for 48 hours. This way, your soap will harden and have the consistency you like.
10
Your homemade soap for eczema is ready.
You can use this neem oil eczema soap like any regular soaps. With this homemade soap for eczema recipe, you can make six medium sized bars. This homemade soap for recipe may look a bit professional but once you have an appropriate scale, it is easy to measure all the ingredients.
Actually, the hardest part of this recipe is measurement. After that, all you need to do is combine all the ingredients in correct order.
How Long Can I Store This Soap?
Since there are no additives or preservatives in this soap, shelf-life will naturally be lower than commercial products. If you used olive oil in this soap, you can only keep eczema soap for one month.
But if you omitted olive oil, you can keep it for two or three months. Make sure that you store the soap in dry and cool place. This will increase the shelf-life and your soap will not melt at high temperatures.
