When you are mixing the essential oils, you need to be careful about couple of things. I will talk about these points before getting deep inside the perfume recipes.

How to Mix Essential Oils for Your Homemade Perfume

All perfumes have different fragrances. These fragrances are called the notes of the perfumes. Perfumes generally have three different notes: top note, middle note, and base note. Base note is the most permanent one. So, for that reason, essential oil in base note tend to have the strongest smell among these notes.

When combining these essential oils, you need to be careful about the blending factor. Each essential oil has a different blending factor. This factors shows the strength of an essential oil.

While lime has blending factor of 3, jasmine has blending factor of 1. On the other hand, bergamot has blending factor of 7. Your total blending factor should correspond to 11.

When you are using other essential oils, you need to be careful about achieving this total blending factor.

How to Make Homemade Essential Oil Perfume

Actually, although ingredients of these perfumes are different, preparation steps are the same. You need to combine all ingredients slowly.

Especially, you need to add each essential oil drop by drop. This way, you can have the full control over your perfume and how the fragrance will be.

Also, you need carrier oil in all of the recipes. This carrier oil can be jojoba oil or grapeseed oil. It depends on what you have in hand. I used jojoba oil in these recipes as it is easier to find it from local stores and online stores.

You can easily change the essential oils in these formulas. It is fun to play with different fragrances. If you are new to homemade perfume thing, you can follow the ratios and essential oils given in these recipes. As you become an expert, you will feel excited to try new other things.
