I really hate dry hands. When my hands are dry, they are always cracking. And sometimes they are even bleeding. So, hand creams are generally my best friends. I always carry around a hand cream in my bag. But, I know that commercial hand cream products have high amount of chemicals. Especially, paraben and other harmful chemicals. Although I am generally careful about the products I buy, I got tired of reading labels. So, I decided to prepare my own hand cream recipe.

Why do I choose coconut oil?
Well, this oil makes miracles. Coconut oil has amazing moisturising property, and this is exactly what I need right now. During winter, my hands are out of control. They constantly need moist. So, I will give them what they need. Tons of moist. Also, other ingredients in this recipe will protect my hands against harmful externa effects.
Homemade Hand Cream Ingredients
- 2 tea spoons of beeswax
- 2 tea spoons of cocoa butter
- 2 tea spoons of shea butter
- 1 tea spoon almond oil
- 15-20 drops of essential lavender oil
Homemade Hand Cream Preparation

Add beeswax, cocoa butter, and shea butter in a bowl.

Take a pot, fill half of the pot with water, and place it on medium heat.

Place the bowl in the pot.

Melt beeswax, cocoa butter, and shea butter.

Take from heat.

Add almond oil and essential lavender oil.

Mix all the ingredients until you obtain a uniform mixture.

Pour in a clean container.
If you have a double boiler, you can user this instead of first 3 steps. You will add beeswax, cocoa butter, and shea butter in the double boiler and melt the ingredients. I want to give the recipe this way. So, if you don’t know what to do if you don’t have a double boiler, here is your answer.
Also, you can use microwave to melt the ingredients. Set the microwave to 90 seconds. Take the mixture out in each 30 seconds, and mix the ingredients. Microwave is also a fast alternative to melt the solid butters and oils.
Once you start to use this homemade hand cream recipe, you will feel the difference. Your dry hands will disappear. And your hands will feel like soft silk. After using for couple of days, your hands will hurt no more.
What is more, you can keep this recipe at room temperature for couple of months. Also, if you transfer the recipe into container with cap, you can carry it around with you.
